Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has officially flagged off the construction of the Jimeta Ultra-Modern Shopping Complex, a ₦19.7 billion project aimed at transforming the commercial landscape of Adamawa State.

The governor performed the groundbreaking ceremony on Monday, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to economic development, job creation, and urban modernization.

Speaking at the event, Fintiri described the shopping complex as a “landmark initiative” that will provide a state-of-the-art commercial hub and stimulate economic growth by attracting investments and creating employment opportunities for the people of Adamawa.

“The Jimeta Ultra-Modern Shopping Complex is not just about erecting a structure; it is about creating an enduring legacy that fosters economic prosperity. This project is a testament to our administration’s unwavering commitment to economic diversification, commerce, tourism, and technology,” Fintiri said.

The project, valued at N19,700,382,063.56, has been awarded in three lots to reputable contractors: Lubell Nig. Ltd (Lot 1), Maiduguri Commercial and Construction Company (Lot 2), and AMIJARP Nig. Ltd (Lot 3).

The governor assured that with the oversight of Mssr Associated Design Consultants, the project would be delivered within its 18-month completion period.

He urged traders and business owners in the state to collaborate with the Ministry of Commerce to take ownership of the project rather than doubting its completion.

“In this administration, we do not embark on projects we cannot complete. This is the new Adamawa State, where no one is left behind, and nothing is left untouched,” he declared.

The shopping complex, when completed, will feature modern retail outlets, food courts, office spaces, and recreational areas, making it a key economic hub that will boost trade and enhance the state’s commercial viability.

Fintiri expressed optimism that the project would be completed on schedule and pledged to return in the coming months to commission the facility for public use.
