Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has called for unity among Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftains if the party must wrest the presidency from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor, who spoke to journalists, yesterday, at Yola International Airport, when he arrived in the state from Abuja for the PDP convention, said every party member won the presidential primary.
He said: “As far as the PDP convention is concerned, there is no victor and no vanquished; it is PDP that won and we are all together working for victory at the 2023 general elections.
“The presidency is for PDP. All those that participated in the presidential convention have visited each other, and there is no bad feeling. Power comes from God and he chooses whom to give it.”
Fintiri, while swearing-in high court judges in the state, yesterday, charged them to be fair in discharging their duties, pointing out that only the rule of law and equity could uphold the tenets of Nigeria’s democracy.
“It is a great opportunity for you to serve God and humanity in the temple of justice. So, discipline and transparency should be your watchword,” he stated.
The governor commended the state’s Chief Judge (CJ), Justice Nathan Musa, for the reforms he introduced in the state’s judiciary, noting that they were yielding positive results.
He observed that good governance could only be achieved when the three tiers of government operate independently.
