A non-profit foundation, Caprecon Development Foundation, has expressed worry over the growing rate of out-of-school children in Kano, just as he promised to complement government effort to return the vulnerable children back to school.

Statistics indicated over 3 million out-of-school children in Northern Nigeria with Kano having the larger percent, an ugly development fast become a source of concern in the region.

Chief Executive Director of the foundation, Dolin Holt, made the pledged when he visited an Internally Displaced Persons (IPS), camp Kano at the weekend where he equally assured support for the vulnerable people.

According to Holt, the foundation is extending its benevolent to the less-privileged with establishment of the foundation’s presence in Kano because of the huge population.

He added that his foundation is willing to send out-of-school children back to school, provide uniforms, school fees, instructional materials among others, to help the poor who could not afford such.

“The idea like I said is to increase awareness, presence of what we do and how we can help in small ways to shape things up in this beautiful city of Kano in the sense of humanitarian help.

“It could be education for poor children, it could be helping people in IDPs, like refugee camps, like counselling, befriending, and we are presenting some items for their feeding and their well-being.

“It could also be in the sense of sending children to school whose parents cannot afford it. We are coming to help with uniforms, school materials, and even pay the fees”, he said.

At the IDP camp, Holt donated food stuff, detergents, drugs and other items, saying “it is for the wellbeing of the IDPs.” The foundation had earlier made similar gesture to the inmates at the Kurmawa Correctional Centre, near Emir’s palace, Kano.

Earlier, Holt paid a visit to Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero at his palace, where he expressed readiness to support vulnerable and needy in the state. The UK-based philanthropist told the Emir that he was in Kano to pay homage to the him and also create a presence in the state.

He explained that the Foundation is a charity organization, dedicated to helping the needy.

On his part, the Emir expressed gratitude with the visit and assured the organization that the emirate would offer necessary support to achieving its goal in the state.
