Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has announced the adoption of 95 orphans in Kano State.

He announced during a lunch with the kids, currently under the care of the state’s orphanage home.

The luncheon was part of activities to mark the country’s 64th independence anniversary in the state.

A statement by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, quoted the governor as saying: “I want to announce that we have assumed full responsibility for all the 95 orphans domiciled in this facility. We will take care of their education from primary to tertiary levels, healthcare services, feeding and other social needs throughout my tenure.”

He assured that the orphans would be treated as very important personalities with full benefits, care and privileges.

The governor added that the state government would accord the children the opportunity to reach their full potential in life.

The orphanage, established 54 years ago, was witnessing such a gesture for the first time.

“You are now my children, I will take care of you as my own, and you will begin to feel the good side of life Insha Allah,” Yusuf assured.

The statement added that the governor had donated food items worth millions of Naira for the comfort of the orphans.
