The Federal Government is working towards instilling sanity in the social media space.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, who dropped the hint while briefing newsmen yesterday in Abuja, stated that responsible journalists have nothing to fear as government’s intention was not to gag the media, but to restore sanity to the nation’s airwave.

He noted that no government that worth its salt would sit by and allow fake news and hate speeches to dominate its media space and the perpetrators “exploit our national fault lines to set us against one another and trigger a national conflagration.”
