The Northern Progressives Movement for Good Governance has condemned Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s allegations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, calling them fabrications to evade accountability.

The Northern Progressives Movement for Good Governance (NPMGG) has expressed deep concern over the ongoing controversy in the 10th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, particularly the recent actions of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, the organisation condemned Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s conduct during a recent plenary session, describing her actions as a violation of legislative decorum and an attempt to evade accountability.

The statement, signed by Lukeman Datijjo, Esq., National Publicity Secretary of the NPMGG, was issued on behalf of several Northern organisations, including the Arewa Mandate Forum, North Central Youth Alliance, and Middlebelt Youth Leaders Movement.

The statement strongly criticised Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s conduct, asserting that her actions during the plenary session undermined the integrity of the Senate and disrespected the principles of discipline and leadership.

The NPMGG further stated that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s behaviour does not reflect the strength and resilience of Northern women in leadership.

The group alleged that instead of submitting to the Senate’s disciplinary process, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan resorted to making allegations of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio. According to them, this was a deliberate tactic to distract the public from her actions and avoid accountability.

The NPMGG urged the Nigerian public to be cautious in accepting Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s latest allegations, dismissing them as fabrications designed to mislead the public.

The organisation further called on the National Assembly’s Ethics, Privileges, and Disciplinary Committee to conduct a transparent, thorough, and unbiased investigation into Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s conduct, ensuring due process is followed without fear or favour.
