Group urges Governor Fubara to honour Supreme Court ruling

A group, Concerned Rivers People (CRP), has urged Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State to honour his commitment to obey court verdicts following the Supreme Court ruling on the state’s political crisis.
In a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Alex Nwogu, the group accused Fubara of disregarding legal norms by instructing his self-appointed local government chairmen to hand over to heads of local government administration, a move they claim contravenes the 1999 Constitution.
The CRP criticised the governor’s post-verdict remarks, describing them as an attempt to gain public sympathy. They accused him of financial recklessness, alleging that he had spent more in 2024 than his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, did in two and a half years, with little to show for it.
They further stated that the Rivers State House of Assembly had provided clear directives on the next course of action and urged Fubara to follow through to prevent hardship in the state.
The group concluded by asserting that self-inflicted political wounds are difficult to heal and reiterated their stance against what they called the governor’s “errors in governance.”
