Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Katsina for the 2023 general elections, Senator Yakubu Lado, has vowed to tackle the prevailing insecurity in the state within three months if voted into office.

Like most states in the North West, Katsina is confronted with terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and cattle rustling.

Thousands have been killed, kidnapped and maimed since the challenge began about a decade ago, with scores of communities deserted by inhabitants.

Lado, in a chat with newsmen yesterday, said despite the perennial security problem in the state, the issue was surmountable.

Insisting that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government had allegedly exhausted its ideas on how to tackle the problem, the gubernatorial aspirant added that returning them to power would make any difference.

His words: “The APC has exhausted its ideas on ways to tackle the situation, and it may not be any different if the gubernatorial candidate of the party gets to form government next year.

“If given the opportunity to become the state governor, I will tackle the security challenge facing the state within a spate of three months.

“I don’t want to say exactly what I would do to achieve this, but I’ll keep it to myself till then since it’s a security matter.”

He acknowledged that PDP membership in the state was growing by the day, promising a good outing at the poll.
