How data science expert, Olaniyi Olamiju, is equipping youngsters with AI and robotics skills for the future
With the rising demand for artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and data science skills in today’s workforce, an expert in the field, Olaniyi Olamiju, has taken it upon himself to equip young minds with the tools needed to thrive in the digital economy.
His passion for technology, coupled with years of experience in education and data analytics, has driven him to create platforms that provide hands-on learning in these emerging fields.
He revealed this in an interactive session with newsmen when he was asked about his transition from the education sector into the world of artificial intelligence and data science.
According to him, his journey began with a strong foundation in STEM education, which he championed at The Ambassadors College, where he designed and implemented a comprehensive STEM curriculum that introduced students to robotics and programming.
“My background in STEM education made me realize the importance of equipping students with digital skills early on,” he said.
“As technology continues to advance, there is an urgent need to prepare young people for the jobs of the future. This realization led me to co-found Digitutors, a platform dedicated to teaching coding, robotics, and digital technologies.”
Through Digitutors, Olaniyi has effectively overseen the delivery of more than 15,000 hours of both paid and pro bono virtual tutoring, providing digital training services and academic support to clients across Africa, North America, and Europe.
Under his leadership, the platform has expanded its reach, attracting a growing number of students eager to learn AI-driven technologies.
This initiative has significantly contributed to bridging the skills gap, ensuring that more young people gain exposure to fields such as machine learning, robotics, data science, and automation.
Before fully venturing into AI and data science, Olaniyi had an extensive career in education and program management.
As a STEM Program Manager at The Ambassadors College, where he also doubled as a Mathematics Quiz Master for the renowned TUMA (The Ultimate Mathematics Ambassador) quiz competition organised by the same institution, he mentored students who went on to win national robotics competitions. He also played a pivotal role in securing sponsorships and funding to enhance learning experiences for students, ensuring that they had access to state-of-the-art tools and technologies.
His transition into data science and artificial intelligence was marked by his pursuit of a Master’s degree in Data Science at the University of Salford, where he graduated with distinction.
During his studies, he worked on predictive modeling and statistical analysis projects that provided valuable insights for policymakers and businesses.
His expertise in machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), and data visualization positioned him as a sought-after professional in the industry.
Following his academic achievements, Olamiju took on roles that allowed him to apply his technical skills in real-world settings.

As a Data Scientist at the Royal College of Nursing, he conducted extensive analyses on user engagement patterns, developing recommendation systems that improved content personalization by 75%.
He also implemented predictive modeling techniques that helped optimize the digital learning platform, enhancing user experience for healthcare professionals.
In addition to his role at Digitutors, Olamiju currently serves as a Data Science Teaching Assistant at the University of Salford, where he provides guidance to students on Machine Learning, Big Data Tools and Techniques as well as data visualization.
His mentorship has led to a significant improvement in academic performance, with more students excelling in their studies and gaining confidence in handling complex data science projects.
His work extends beyond the classroom, as he actively engages in research that applies data science solutions to real-world problems, while consulting for other organisations and businesses as a data science and AI expert.
Despite his deep involvement in data science, Olaniyi remains committed to his mission of empowering the next generation. He believes that the fusion of AI, robotics, and STEM education will play a crucial role in shaping the future workforce.
“We are in an era where automation and AI-driven solutions are transforming industries,” he said. “The earlier we introduce young people to these technologies, the better prepared they will be to lead innovations in the future.”
His data-driven approach to business and education has set a new standard for leveraging technology in learning and professional development.
Looking ahead, Olamiju plans to expand Digitutors further, incorporating more AI-powered tools and interactive learning experiences.
He envisions a future where students from all backgrounds have access to high-quality training in data science, robotics, and artificial intelligence, ensuring that they remain competitive in an evolving digital landscape.
