Ikpeazu mourns as Orji Kalu loses wife, Ifeoma
The former Governor of Abia State, Orji Kalu, has announced the death of his first wife, Ifeoma Kalu, who died at the age of 61. In a post on his official social media page, signed by him, the former governor and Chief Whip of the Senate said Ifeoma was a woman of virtue who was committed to service of God and humanity.
Kalu wrote: “With a heavy heart and pain, we announce the passing on to the eternal glory of Ifeoma Ada Kalu, aged 61. She was a woman of virtue who was committed to service of God and humanity.
“A memorial service in her honour is scheduled to hold in America.” He urged the public to remember Ifeoma and her loved ones in prayers during this difficult period.
MEANWHILE, the current state governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, yesterday, commiserated with Kalu over the death of his wife, who was one time, the state’s first lady.
Ikpeazu, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Onyebuchi Ememanka, said he received the news of her death in far away America with deep sadness.
Ikpeazu, who said she would be remembered as a humane and kind woman who was warm, gentle and unassuming, urged Kalu and his family to bear the loss with fortitude and with assurance that this is the path all mortals must go, adding that Christians should be assured of resurrection of the dead. He, on behalf of the state government and people of the state, sent his deepest condolences to the Kalu family and prayed for the repose of her gentle soul.
