I’ll sustain fight against insecurity in Kogi, Ododo vows
Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Ododo, has vowed to sustain the fight against all threats to the security of life and property in the state, saying it is not negotiable.
Ododo spoke to journalists at the end of a closed-door meeting with chairmen of the 21 local councils in the state to deliberate on measures to mitigate insecurity in the state.
He noted that the existing security architecture in the state yielded tremendous success in the fight against violent crimes and must be sustained to ensure peace and stability in the state.
“Given the successes recorded by my predecessor, Yahaya Bello, in taming the menace of insecurity in the state, we must continue to accord top priority to the security of life and property of the people.
“We cannot afford to drop from the height we have attained in securing the security of life and property as a result of desperate attempts by a few unpatriotic elements, who may want to undermine our collective resolve to keep our state safe and secure,” he said.
The governor described security as the top priority of his government and stressed that his administration would leave no stone unturned to protect the life and property of Kogi people.
He added: “I have restated my commitment to the local council chairmen that security remains my first priority and we must be prepared to do whatever it takes to secure every inch of Kogi, and this is not negotiable.”
Ododo urged the council chairmen to redouble their efforts to secure all communities within their domain and be in touch with the people whom he described as primary sources of intelligence gathering for any security intervention by the government.
