Ag CGIS Caroline Adepoju and Interpol President, Major General Ahmed Al Raisi vow to tackle transborder-related crimes

 

In its bid to combat transborder-related crimes, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has boosted its ties with International Police (Interpol).

At the Service Headquarters in Abuja, Ag CGIS Caroline Adepoju and Interpol President, Major General Ahmed Al Raisi, discussed collaboration during the visit of the latter.

The duo’s discussions focused on border security to prevent illegal movements. Adepoju and Raisi exchanged insights and ideas for mutual benefit. AIG Garba Umar, Interpol Vice President for Africa, joined the discussions.

Sources disclosed discussions included intelligence sharing on potential threats, criminal networks, and cross-border crimes. The entities aim to combat global human trafficking, addressing this pressing issue.

The NIS boss, Adepoju has shown commitment to clamp down on transborder criminals since assumption of office.

She has deployed more combat ready officers to border areas has concluded moves to deploy technology in fighting the scourge.
