Imo govt approves ₦70,000 minimum wage
Governor Hope Uzodimma announced the approval of a ₦70,000 minimum wage for workers in Imo State, stressing the government’s commitment to prioritising the welfare of its workforce.
The announcement was made on Tuesday at the Government House in Owerri, following a meeting with labour leaders.
Uzodimma expressed that the decision was a reaffirmation of the state’s dedication to the well-being of Imo workers and pensioners.
“This decision, a result of extensive consultations with labour leaders, underscores our commitment to improving the living conditions of our workforce,” Uzodimma wrote on X.

In addition to the new minimum wage, the government has approved a 10% salary increment for employees on consolidated salary structures and has committed to paying outstanding pension and gratuity arrears.
The governor also outlined plans to enrol pensioners into the State Healthcare Services Scheme for free medical care and ensure the continuation of the 13th-month salary payments.
