The apex Igbo socio-cultural body, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, said it has acknowledged the efforts of the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, to fortify the country’s security architecture.

In a time of economic challenges that have exacerbated security predicaments across diverse regions, particularly in the North, Ohanaeze said it was recognising Matawalle and Ribadu’s contributions in stabilising the nation’s precarious security landscape.

In a statement on Tuesday by its Secretary-General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the organisation expressed its gratitude to Matawalle and Ribadu for their unwavering commitment to the safety and protection of all Nigerians, including the Igbo residents and community in the Northern region.

He said: “Under their stewardship, we witnessed a tangible decline in insecurity targeted onslaughts against Ndigbo, especially during the nationwide protests in August 2024.
