IPAC hails former Senate President, Anyim, at 64

The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), on Tuesday, hailed the former Senate President and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, on the occasion of his 64th birthday.
Born on February 19, 1961, Anyim is a paragon of patriotism and integrity. A quintessential statesman and astute administrator, he devoted his life to the service of the nation.
In a statement, IPAC National Chairman, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, described Anyim as a patriotic and detribalized Nigerian whose contributions to Nigeria’s democracy and governance remain invaluable.
Dantalle highlighted Anyim’s intellectual depth and political acumen, recalling his keynote addresses at IPAC conferences, including the recent event on 100 Years of Political Parties Evolution in Nigeria, which has significantly contributed to strengthening democracy in the country.
IPAC praised Anyim’s landmark achievements as Senate President (2000-2003), particularly his leadership in passing 65 bills and 72 resolutions that shaped Nigeria’s governance.

The Council recalls with pride the achievements of the 4th Senate, a greater part of which Dr. Anyim Pius Anyim presided over, including the passage of 65 bills and 72 resolutions such as the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Establishment Act, Onshore/Offshore Dichotomy Act, Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Matters Commission (ICPC) Establishment Act, Police Service Commission Establishment Act, National Examination Council (NECO) Establishment Act, Small and Medium Scale Industries Development Agency Establishment Act, National Roads Maintenance Agency Establishment Act, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Establishment Act.
The council said, “The establishment of these agencies of government under his watch is a testament to his visionary, resourceful, and progressive leadership.”
The Council celebrates Anyim for his contributions to fostering sustainable democracy and development in Nigeria and urges citizens to rededicate themselves to building a strong, united, stable, prosperous, and egalitarian democratic nation.
He added, “Together, we will usher in a better and greater Nigeria that future generations will be proud of.”
