The Jigawa State Government on Tuesday said it had concluded plans to establish an agency for teachers’ training and education managers development.

Prof Isa Yusuf, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Science and Technology, said this while speaking at a one-day cluster training for English Language, Mathematics and Science teachers in Dutse.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the training tagged “Cluster Training for Effective Teaching of English, Mathematics and Sciences: A Strategy for Improving Students’ Outcomes”, was conducted for selected teachers across the five senatorial zones of the state.

Yusuf said that the state government had already inaugurated a committee that would facilitate the smooth establishment of the agency.

The commissioner added that the agency would be responsible for organising capacity building trainings for teachers and other educational management stakeholders in the state.

“The agency will be responsible for conducting series of training for teachers throughout the year.

“It will be headed by an expert in educational management and competent resource persons will be engaged to train our teachers, even in Information and Communication Technology (ICT),” the commissioner said.

He noted that the gesture aimed at ensuring that teachers in the state were equipped to enhance students’ outcomes.

The commissioner further assured the participants that the state government was according high priority to the welfare and development of teachers through its vibrant policies and programmes.

According to him, one measure taken to achieve the desired goals is the ongoing renovation works on staff rooms and offices, including those of principals and directors of senior secondary schools across the state.

Others, Yusuf said, are procurement of furniture for both teachers, principals and directors of senior secondary schools in the state.

He, therefore, urged the teachers to reciprocate the gesture by dedicating themselves to their duties, so as to improve students’ outcome.

The commissioner said further that the ministry had made provision in its 2025 budget for construction of staff quarters in all day senior secondary schools.

According to him, this gesture aims at enabling teachers live within the premises of schools where they teach, adding that this will enable them to do their work diligently.
