Jonathan appoints Peter Obi chairman of SEC

PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan has appointed the former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, as the new Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The Acting Director General, Mounir Gwazo, was also confirmed as the new Director General of the Commission.

Obi’s appointment was announced yesterday evening.
According to the Presidency, this appointment is to take immediate effect.
Contrary to speculations that he would go to the Senate after stepping down as governor, Obi had responded that he has no ambition to go to the upper chamber.
