Just In: Lawal replaces Maifata as ALGON president
Bellow Lawal has emerged as the new president of the Association of Local Government in Nigeria (ALGON).
Lawal is the current chairman of Kaita Local Government Area (LGA) in Katsina State. He now succeeds the outgoing Aminu Mu’azu Maifata of Lafia LGA, Nasarawa State.
The new ALGON president emerged following an election conducted by ALGON members at the organisation’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held in the early hours of Tuesday in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.
Bello, who commended the NEC for deeming him fit, assured the organisation that he will give his best to further their cause given the autonomy of local governments in the country.
He appealed for cooperation among members to drive the objective of the association to a desirable end.
