Kalu condemns fatal attack on Abia lawmaker’s convoy
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has strongly condemned the attack on the convoy of his colleague, Rep. Ginger Onwusibe, in Abia State.
The attack, which occurred on Sunday night in Ubakala, Umuahia South Local Government Area (LGA), tragically led to the death of a police officer.
In a statement released on Monday, Kalu expressed deep sorrow over the incident and called for swift justice for the perpetrators.
He stressed the need to prioritise the safety of lawmakers and their teams.
Kalu extended his condolences to the family of the deceased officer, the Nigerian Police Force, and the Abia State Government.
He urged authorities to take immediate steps to prevent future occurrences of such violence.
He said, “No form of violence, crime, or criminality must be tolerated in Abia or anywhere else in the country. Perpetrators must steer clear of God’s Own State.”
