Alhaji Safiyannu Garba-Bena, the outgoing Kebbi Head of Civil Service (HoS), has expressed appreciation to Gov. Nasir Idris for availing him the opportunity to serve in that capacity.

Garba-Bena gave the commendation at a handover ceremony held at the Cabinet Office in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday.

 

He said he was relinquishing the office to the most senior Permanent Secretary, Hajiya A’isha Usman, in consonance with civil service rules.

 

“Today marks my last day in the civil service of Kebbi, as I have clocked 60 years of age.

 

”I wish to appreciate His Excellency, Gov. Nasir Idris for holding on to the tenets of merits in the appointments of public officials.

”I want to acknowledge the governor for the wonderful work he has done since my assumption to the office for helping me to lift the bar of the civil service during my short but eventful period.

 

”I thank him for the good things done for the civil servants, and I am also grateful to civil servants and Media Practitioners for their support towards my successful tenure,” Garba-Bena said.

 

He called on the civil servants to continue to cooperate with Gov. Idris to achieve his shared prosperity agenda for the Kebbi people.

 

The outgoing head of service noted that “everyone has a role to play in bringing to bear all the lofty programmes and policies of government directed towards improving the lots of people.”

 

In her response, the new Acting Head of Service, pledged to justify the confidence reposed in her, while assuring to build upon the legacies of her predecessor targeted at efficient and effective service delivery.
”Safiyanu Garba-Bena was here for three years, while, I have about two months to retirement. I am thanking Gov. Idris for finding me worthy of appointment to this exalted office.
”Therefore, I solicit the support and cooperation of all civil servants as well as the media for the task ahead.
”I am praying for God’s guidance and protection for our governor, other leaders, and the citizenry. Similarly, I pray for prosperity for our dear state and the nation at large,” she noted.
