Kidnapping, robbery: Nasarawa CP vows to flush out criminals

Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Umar Nadada, has promised to eliminate kidnappers and criminal elements in the Dadere community of Obi Local Council and other parts of the state in response to the increasing cases of kidnapping and robbery.

The CP made this commitment when a delegation of aggrieved Dadere Youth Organisation visited him at the state police command headquarters to express their concerns over the prevailing insecurity and kidnapping in their community.

He called for calm, assuring that the police and other security agencies are working towards addressing the challenges and ensuring the security of the entire state.

Nada also mentioned that the state government has pledged further support to the police and other agencies, including additional logistics, to help tackle the menace.

He emphasised that security is a collective responsibility, urging every citizen to cooperate with the police and provide helpful information about criminals and their hideouts to ensure the safety of all communities. He also assured the organisation that immediate action would be taken to increase police presence.

The CP said the importance of the public’s support in providing information about criminals to enable the police to take action. Chairman of Dadere Youth Organisation, Sani Yakubu, expressed concern over the frequent kidnapping and armed robbery in the area, noting that many people are relocating to safer locations due to fear of being kidnapped or attacked.

He also highlighted the issue of suspects being arrested and released and advocated for the police post in the area to be upgraded to a divisional headquarters to ensure a more substantial police presence.

In response to the complaint, the CP asked the organisation to provide the police with their names and assured them that an investigation would be conducted to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the suspects’ release and that appropriate action would be taken Furthermore, Governor Abdullahi Sule held a meeting with the heads of security services and urged them to intensify efforts to combat the increasing kidnapping and robbery across the state.
