The Lagos State Government, in partnership with Allen Foundation, is set to launch a special capacity building program to equip secondary school students across three zones in the state with vocational, digital and creative skills.

The program, deeply rooted in the drive to create sustainable empowerment, will enable participants to gain a sense of direction for their career and future goals.

The training, which will last for four weeks, will focus on senior secondary school students. The facilitators will show expertise on the subjects, discussing practical steps that the participants can understand at their level.

Afterwards, the three best graduating students will get starter kits and financial rewards to aid their career goals. All participants will also get notebooks from the Allen Foundation.

In his remarks, the convener of the program, Lekan Oluwayomi, says, “the future lies in our ability to identify and encourage young people in their teenage years. When I was at this phase of my life, I was confused and could not choose a career path.

“This program aims to empower young people with understanding new trends and alternative career paths that didn’t exist ten to fifteen years ago. It will open the participants’ eyes to a plethora of choices in their career paths. In line with the vision of the Lagos state government to make Lagos the creative industry capital of Africa by the year 2025, this carefully thought-out collaboration will stir participants to think in that direction.”

Excited about the partnership, the program officer, Damilare Fakorede, also expressed gratitude regarding the partnership, “I thank the Lagos state government for this opportunity. The Allen Foundation is happy to take on this challenge of impacting lives in Lagos state. I am convinced beyond reasonable doubts that this training will touch a lot of lives”.
