LASTMA rescues four in separate Lagos road accidents
Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officers yesterday intervened to rescue four people who were involved in two separate road accidents in the Obanikoro and Chevron areas of Lagos.
The first incident occurred on Ikorodu Road near Obanikoro, involving a high-speed lone accident with a commercial Suzuki mini-bus (registration KTU 527 XN).
The bus overturned, trapping the driver, a conductor, and a female passenger, all of whom sustained injuries.
LASTMA officers responded promptly, coordinating a rescue operation. The bus driver, suffering critical fractures, was transported to the National Orthopaedic Hospital in Igbobi for urgent care. The injured conductor received immediate medical attention through the Lagos State Ambulance Services (LASMBUS), while the female passenger was handed over to her family upon their arrival.
The second accident happened near Chevron on the Lekki-Ajah Expressway, where a Toyota Camry (registration KSF 913 JK) lost control and plunged into a gutter. LASTMA officers quickly intervened, attending to an injured passerby and supervising the vehicle’s removal with Ilasan Police support.
LASTMA General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki praised the officers’ swift response, saying, “Our officers are trained to handle emergencies with precision. This action reflects LASTMA’s dedication to protecting lives and ensuring road safety across Lagos.”
