LG election: Yusuf dissolves 44 interim officers
Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has announced the immediate dissolution of the Interim Management Officers manning the 44 local government councils.
The caretakers were sent packing of the administration of the councils after six months in office.
The governor, who announced the dissolution during an expanded meeting with the outgoing interim officers at the government Wednesday evening, commended their commitment to the state assignment.
Yusuf, however, directed the Interim Management Officers to hand over the affairs to the council to their Directors of Personnel Management (DPM) immediately.
He urged the DPM to ensure prudent management and effective council administration pending the local government election slated for 26th October 2024.
The state government may have taken the smart decision to avoid violation of the recent verdict of the Supreme Court, which henceforth invalidates recognition of appointment of the caretaker or interim officers across local government areas in the country.
