He said: “The success of the oil industry relies on the active participation of all stakeholders, particularly the host communities whose welfare is paramount.

“Under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, we are committed to addressing every necessary concern to achieve our goal of increased crude production.”

Lokpobiri made these remarks during a meeting with a delegation from the Peretorugbene Federated Communities of Ekeremor Local Government Area in Bayelsa State. The delegation had voiced their dissatisfaction with perceived neglect by oil operators in their region.

Lokpobiri praised their ongoing support and collaboration with the Federal Government, while also assuring them that immediate steps would be taken to address their concerns, particularly those related to the Host Communities Trust Fund.

The Minister urged the communities to continue their support for the Federal Government’s efforts to boost oil production while committing to resolving the issues raised. This assurance aims to strengthen the partnership between the government and host communities, ensuring that the benefits of oil wealth are more equitably distributed.
