Mom Foundation counsels young Nigerians on education
Managing Director, Margaret Ogbeide Memorial (MOM) Foundation, Victor Ogbeide, has called on young Nigerians, particularly males, to reposition their minds towards acquiring useful education instead of cutting corners in their quest for success.
Ogbeide, made the call while delivery his speech at the maiden edition of Mom Scholarship Award, held in Abavo town, Ika South Council of Delta State,
He expressed disappointment that the male child is preoccupied with “computers pressing” (yahoo) and other untoward acts, while the females vigorously study hard, pursuing their education for a brighter tomorrow.
“One is obviously disturbed that of the 30 JSS 11 students, who participated in MOM Foundation, (Powered by Dee-Jovicx ltd), scholarship examinations, the five students who had ‘exceptional performance’ in Mathematics and English Language examinations were all female,” Ogbeide lamented
The MD said the scholarship covers one-year school fees, school bags, note books and test books for the 2023/2024 academic calendar.
The five best Students, all female, were tested in Mathematics and English Language examinations along with 30 others by officials of Ministry of Education, Asaba and staff of the Foundation, who declared them winners while other male Students were boxed to the corner for failing to make the top list.
“This programme is held to recognise the young talents, who have proved exceptional performance in their academics, these brilliant students exhibit such qualities that will not only help them in achieving their goals, but also bring glory of success to our school academy.
Victor Ogbeide, an engineer, who believes that good education plays a crucial role in building a child’s bright future, urged students to realise their true potential and make use of it to compete with their peers at all times.
He also urged those, who failed to study hard to prove their mettle to win from the 1,000 scholarships ready for grab in the subsequent editions.
