MOSOP backs ODA to restore development, adequate security
The Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP) has thrown its weight behind the Ogoni Development Authority’s (ODA) quest to seek lasting solutions to the region’s three-decades-old hardship.
MOSOP President, Fegalo Nsuke, in a statement, posited that every effort by ODA to implement its visions in areas of infrastructural development and security will go a long way to give the people a huge sense of belonging.
Nsuke stressed that such laudable effort will improve the living conditions of the people who have been subjected to agonising situations for no just cause other than being born in Niger Delta region,
“Oil has become a curse to the region. This catchphrase used by most commentators on the environmental catastrophe in the area represents a common phenomenon that is prevalent across regions where natural resource extraction takes place.”
“The desire to address these terrible living conditions is the driving force behind calling for the approval of ODA, a proposal made by the Central Committee of MOSOP to address the concerns of the people and to support the growth of the Nigerian economy.”
“The development is not just a fine opportunity to resolve the challenge, but it will be a win-win for all parties and represents the justice the people seek, and a simple and clear path to solve the Ogoni issue.
“Our environment has been destroyed, resources carted away to build other parts of the country, while the Ogoni people have been left without, no electricity, no water, no roads, no hospitals, no life at all.” he lamented.
