Former students of Nigerian Navy Secondary School, Abeokuta, have advised Nigerian leaders to see the masses as customers whose feedback is needed to improve their products.
They made the appeal in Ikeja, Lagos, during the handover and commendation ceremony to herald the new leadership of the association.
The sixth President, Nigerian Navy Boys, Abeokuta, 1996 Set (Ex-Navy Boys 96), Wale Olukoya, said: “Every nation is built by people. So, our leaders must listen to them.
“The leaders need feedback from the people but how well have they used these feedbacks to improve the system?
“So, people in power need to know that they need feedback because the people are like the customers whose feedback are needed to transform the organisation.
“Leadership is the reason we have an association like this and this time, we want to be involved in nation-building beyond our scope.
“We look forward to doing a lot of partnerships with the government and we are also looking forward to entrepreneurship training, career summit and going back to the school to initiate projects that will transform the students and others that have left the school.”
“Our tenure is tagged “the Wealthy Place” because we don’t want to generate revenue for our association alone but for the nation. We are going to be looking at the area of humanitarian services.
Olukoya, who spoke on the association’s plan for the school, said: “We have met with the Commandant and we are planning the first talent show in the school, career summit programme, give back and be involved with the Nigeria Navy. We want to transfer our knowledge to the young ones to show our gratitude to the first Commandant, S.E.A. Olamilokun and all our teachers for training us. Sometimes, people forget their teachers but we are giving back to them and continue more projects in the school.
“We want to start training the students on entrepreneurship; we want to make a lasting impact and create wealth through the transfer of knowledge.
The President who is also the son of a former military governor of Ondo State, Sunday Abiodun Olukoya, added: “Our boys are about 300 and we have our members in Europe, the United States of America (USA), UK, Asia and others and they are doing well. We have concluded that it’s time for us to consolidate and bring our skills and talents to make a difference in Nigeria.
The new excos are Chairman; Wale Olukoya; Vive Chairman UK chapter, Ndubusi Ajah; Vice Chairman USA Chapter, Dunstan Ananyi; General Secretary (Acting & Asst.), Kehinde Raji; Public Relations Officer, Ayodeji Awokoya; Provost, Oluwaseyi Jaiyeola; Social Secretary, Aghogho Udueni; Financial Secretary, Abiodun Eleshin; Treasurer, Oladele Adebayo and Welfare Officer, Sunday Idowu.
