NCoS spokesman makes three best security sector image makers at NSAwards

National spokesperson of the Nigerian Correctional Service, (NCoS), Abubakar Danlami-Umar, has been recognized among three best image makers in the security sector at the 4th Nigeria Spokesperson Award, (NSAwards), by the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations, (NIPR).

Danlami-Umar who spoke with The Guardian on the importance of the award, yesterday in Abuja, said the recognition is a morale booster and a call for more hard work.

Danlami-Umar who was earlier honoured at the awards, noted that the recognition of efforts of individuals and organisations tasked with securing the country not only show patriotism but also encourages high commitment from those recognized.

“The award is a morale booster. Being shortlisted as one of the three best spokespersons in the security sector is a recognition of the efforts of my principal, the Controller General of Corrections, Haliru Nababa.

“The CG has hugely supported the Public Relations Unit and the outcome is the recognition by NIPR. I have my lieutenants in the unit and also the entire officers and men of the Service who collectively have put in their best to ensure that we are meeting our mandates.

“This award is a call to more hard work. I will continue to do my best with the ever-present support of my Controller General to ensure that the Service gets positive reportage in the media space. A lot of good works are going on in the Service and the public deserves to know about them,” he said

Umar who is barely two years in office as the Public Relations Officer, (PRO), of the agency is noted for upscaling the social media handles and website of the NCoS, increasing the Service’s media visibility and engagement with traditional and social media through interviews and regular publications among others.

The awards according to the NIPR, seeks to recognize and acknowledge outstanding contributions of communication professionals and spokespersons across Nigeria.
