The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) on Wednesday donated essential mobility and assistive devices to more than 180 persons with disabilities across all local government areas of Edo State.

The donated items included wheelchairs, walking frames, braille books, hearing aids, and walking canes for the visually impaired.

The initiative, aimed at improving the quality of life for persons with disabilities, was facilitated by Kensther Global Services Ltd.

The Managing Director of NDDC, Chief Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, was represented by an Assistant Director of Environment, Health, Safety, and Social Services (EHSS) at the NDDC, Edo State office.

Ogbuku, in his goodwill message, reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to positively impacting the lives of persons with disabilities.

He urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the materials provided and to continue supporting the government by being law-abiding citizens.

The event also featured interactive sessions and educational lectures.

Executive Director, Albinism and Disability Advocacy Centre (ADAC), Ibrahim Momoh, delivered a talk on mental health awareness.

Ezeala Edison discussed wellness and sports for persons with disabilities, while Godfrey Bara presented a lecture on leadership development.

The Chairman of the Edo State chapter of the National Association of Persons Living with Disabilities, Ann Ojugo, expressed her appreciation for the support extended by the NDDC.

She highlighted the relief the donations have brought to beneficiaries and pledged continued collaboration with government agencies to advocate for the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities.
