NDYC hails arrest of Hadejia, calls for decisive action

The Niger Delta Youth Congress (NDYC) has commended the Nigerian Police and other security agencies for the arrest of Bashir Hadejia, a suspected criminal linked to treason, gun-running, and transnational crimes.

In a statement signed by National Coordinator Comrade Israel Uwejeyan, the NDYC described Hadejia’s arrest as a “significant victory” for Nigeria and a testament to the effectiveness of the country’s security agencies.

The group called on President Bola Tinubu to take decisive action against Hadejia and his accomplices, urging the administration not to release him until a comprehensive investigation is conducted and justice is fully served.

The NDYC also expressed concern over Hadejia’s connections to influential figures within the political arena, including allegations linking him to a former Director of the Department of State Security Service (DSS), and demanded an immediate and thorough investigation.

The group warned that failure to act decisively against these threats would endanger Nigeria’s future and embolden criminal actors to further exploit vulnerabilities within the system.

The NDYC pledged its support for President Tinubu’s efforts to maintain national security and social cohesion, urging the government to prioritise transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct in governance.

This operation is a reflection of their dedication to safeguarding the sovereignty of Nigeria.

The apprehension of individuals like Bashir Hadejia is not only essential in protecting our borders but also underscores the importance of sustained vigilance in dismantling the increasingly sophisticated networks of crime and terrorism.”
