The Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Culture and Tourism has expressed excitement over the new online TV by the state’s Council for Arts and Culture (CAC), saying it will promote the A’Ibom development blueprint, as contained in the ARISE Agenda.

The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs. Grace Akpan, made the remarks in Uyo when the management and union leaders of the CAC, led by its Director, Dr. Unwana Joshua, visited her.

The Perm Sec said the ARISE Agenda was the roadmap for all the development plans of the state government and would support any initiative spotlighting any aspect of the development blueprint.

She, therefore, applauded the CAC for its foresight in developing CAC-TV with the aim of beaming Akwa Ibom State to the world, particularly the cultural heritage of the people as showcased by the performing arts department of the council.

Akpan expressed optimism that CAC-TV would project the achievements of the ARISE Agenda, especially in the tourism sector, towards showcasing the rich tourism potential of the state to tourists and for exports.

While expressing gratitude to the leadership of the council for the excellent service delivered at the just-concluded Christmas Unplugged 2.0, she urged the council to continue its good work of promoting the cultural heritage of the state through dances, songs, art exhibitions, and other performances.

Earlier, the Director of CAC, Dr. Joshua, said the visit was meant to introduce the management and union leaders of CAC to the Permanent Secretary and also to present the TV crew that worked towards opening a Facebook page for the council to post all its productions on performances by the different troupes and other cultural activities of the state.

Joshua, who listed the achievements of the council under his watch, expressed appreciation to the Permanent Secretary for her continued support of the council and solicited her endorsement for CAC-TV, to enable them to put out their video clips on their Facebook page.

In a vote of thanks, the Head of Performing Arts, Mrs. Abigail Akpakip, lauded the Permanent Secretary for approving the visit and promised to work as a team for the development of the council and towards raising the bar in the promotion of the ARISE Agenda.
