Over 300 vulnerable women in the state have received various food items to celebrate the new year. The Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim said the distribution of the food item was to support vulnerable women in the state to alleviate hardship in the festive season.

Speaking during the distribution exercise in Keffi Local Government Area,  the Minister explained that the gesture was part of the Renewed Hope Agenda on food security of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Suleiman-Ibrahim, who was represented by the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Aishatu Rufai-Ibrahim, further disclosed that the federal government under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu was aware of the challenges being faced by the citizens, and assured of regular interventions to ameliorate their challenges.

While expressing her gratitude to the Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule for his continuous support since she was appointed into office, the minister reiterated her commitment to continue to protect the interest of all the residents of the state at the national level.

She said, “This programme is aimed at supporting vulnerable women in the society in order to cushion the effects of the economic challenges. So, we are here to ensure that no one is left behind during this season.”

On his part, the Executive Chairman of Keffi LGA, Idris Ahmed Damagani thanked President Bola Tinubu and the Minister for the gesture, adding that it would help to improve their livelihoods.

While expressing his satisfaction with the selection process, Damagani urged the beneficiaries not to sell the palliatives, but to make good use of them in their respective homes in order to justify the efforts of the Federal government and the Minister.

Items distributed include rice, pasta, seasoning, cooking oil and tomato. One of the beneficiaries in the Kokona LGA, Matina Emmanuel-Angwe lamented how she and her family had been passing through financial challenges as a result of her husband’s ill health, a retired police officer who suddenly developed a stroke after retiring from the force. She thanked the Minister for the food items given to her and other vulnerable people in the area, assuring that the items will be put to good use.
