The Senator representing Niger North Senatorial District of Niger State at the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly, Senator Abubakar Sani Bello, has distributed starter packs to empower 177 trained beneficiaries of his skills acquisition programme in the state.

The senator made the presentation to the participants across the eight local councils of the zone in Kontagora recently, aimed at empowering them to be economically self-reliant.

The lawmaker, who is the immediate past governor of Niger State, reiterated his commitment to improving the lives of his constituents by promoting productivity as part of a broader strategy to foster financial independence and sustainable development across Zone C.

Senator Bello also reaffirmed his determination to deliver the dividends of democracy through impactful projects tailored to address critical challenges in his constituency.

“These projects are a testament to my resolve to uplift the living standards of the people in Zone C. They are not isolated efforts but part of a sustainable development framework that aligns with federal government policies to bridge infrastructural gaps and drive economic growth,” he noted.

The projects and skills acquired include essential infrastructure upgrades, skill acquisition programmes such as tailoring, hair salon services, carpentry, painting, catering, and poultry farming, among others, as well as economic empowerment initiatives designed to enhance the quality of life for residents.

Earlier, the representative of the beneficiaries of the starter packs, Mohammed Yusuf, expressed optimism about the opportunities provided, describing the legacy of a visionary leader as a solution for their constituency.

In their separate remarks, community leaders and representatives from the eight local councils under Zone C expressed their gratitude for the former governor’s efforts, describing the initiatives as transformative and timely.
