The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) in Niger says its personnel remain committed to professional and operational integrity.

The state command’s Public Relations Officer, DSC Abubakar Muti, disclosed this in a statement issued in Minna and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday.

Muti stated that the personnel of the command were “trained to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity”.

NAN reports that the statement was issued against the backdrop of the alleged involvement of one of the command’s officers in the supply of ammunition to bandits.

The statement described the allegation as “not only untrue but unfounded.

“The NSCDC, Niger Command, wishes to inform the general public that a false and misleading post circulating on social media, alleging the involvement of our personnel in supplying rifles to bandits is entirely unfounded,” it added.

It further explained that the officer in question, Assistant Superintendent of Corps II, Idris Saidu, had been cleared of any wrong doing by a Federal High Court sitting in Minna.

“The NSCDC, Niger command, wishes to remind the public that this matter has been conclusively addressed by the judiciary in a Court judgment and order, Federal High Court, Minna with suit number MN/MTB/CR//60/14,” the statement added.

Muti, therefore, advised the public to always verify information through official channels before going sharing it.
