A gruesome discovery was made on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, in Ogbogoro community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Rivers State, as a businessman identified as Richard Nomanzi, a 43-year-old metal scrap dealer, was found dead in his residence with multiple knife stabs.
According to sources, neighbours in the compound noticed an unpleasant odour emanating from Nomanzi’s apartment and alerted the police and his relatives.
Upon entering the apartment, they were met with the lifeless body of the businessman.
In an emotional interview, Gift, the mother of Nomanzi’s child, recounted the events surrounding the discovery of his body.
She narrated, “I received a call at 3:15 pm yesterday, after school, while I was at my business premises. The caller asked if I knew Richard Chijioke Nomanzi, and I replied yes. They then asked who he was to me, and I told them I had a child with him.
“They instructed me to come to Ogbogoro, and when I arrived, I saw his corpse at the front door. When they turned him over, I saw that he had been stabbed multiple times in his face, stomach, and neck. With the help of the police, we took him to the mortuary. All I want now is justice for him and our child.”
Viewing the video of the deceased, it was confirmed that Nomanzi’s body bore multiple stab wounds.
However, the Rivers State Police Command’s Spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, has yet to respond to our reporter’s inquiry about the incident.
Meanwhile, it was gathered that the matter has been reported to the Ozuoba Police Division under the Choba Area Command.
It is expected that the police will launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Nomanzi’s death, and Gift is calling for justice for her partner and their child.
