The Advisory Committee on Local Government Autonomy has praised the efforts of security operatives for their dedication to combating crime and maintaining peace in Taraba state.

Speaking at a meeting held with all the security heads yesterday in Jalingo, the committee acknowledged the “gallant efforts” of the operatives, applauding their role in significantly reducing the crime rate to its lowest level.

Led by its chairman, Peter Abel Diah, they commended the security forces for wielding superior strength over criminal elements that had previously attempted to destabilize the state, noting that their actions have restored confidence and order across affected areas.

The committee said it channelled and sustained the needed resources to secure the lives and property of Tarabans as enshrined in the Nigerian constitution.

The committee noted that the roles of the heads of security have become more crucial than ever.

The committee envisaged that local government autonomy may bring about new challenges, including potential increases in local conflicts or disputes.

They urged security agencies to “be prepared to adapt to these changes swiftly and effectively, ensuring that law and order are maintained.

“As local governments assume more responsibility, there will be a need for training and capacity building for local security personnel. Your guidance and expertise in this area will be invaluable.” The committee stated.

Speaking on behalf of the security heads, the state commissioner of police, David lloyanomon, reiterated the readiness of the security agencies to ensure peace in the state.
