Eight Plateau communities get transformer to boost power supply
In line with Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang’s vision of electrifying rural communities to spur economic growth, his Director of Press and Public Affairs (DOPPA), Dr. Gyang Bere, has facilitated the installation of an electricity transformer, bringing power to eight rural communities in Chugwi Ward of Vwang District, Jos South Local Government Area.
The commissioning ceremony, held amidst celebrations in the Dalyoho community, saw Bere expressing gratitude to the people for their steadfast support for Governor Mutfwang’s administration, reaffirming the government’s commitment to expanding rural electrification as a catalyst for economic development and improved living standards.
Bere, on the occasion, noted Mutfwang’s remarkable strides in the power sector, including signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Rural Electrification Agency of Nigeria to provide solar power.
He stressed that the installation of the transformer would create an enabling environment for economic activities in the benefiting communities.
He urged youths to seize the opportunity to develop sustainable livelihoods rather than engage in social vices.
Bere also called on the community to safeguard the transformer and take ownership of government projects in their locality to ensure their longevity and benefit.
Dignitaries at the event included the Councilor representing Chugwi Ward, Hon. Gyang Amos; Da Gwom Chugwi, Da Mandung Atyos; former Special Adviser to the Plateau State Governor, Hon. Ayuba Pam Dangwong; and representatives of the Jos Electricity Distribution
(JED) Company.
They commended Dr. Bere for the initiative in installing the transformer, which had been donated several years ago by the former Deputy Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Dalyop Fom.
