Two suspects arrested for using fake bank transfers in Ogun

Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 23-year-old man, identified only as Success, for allegedly fatally stabbing his father with a machete in Amukpe community, Sapele Local Council.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident and stated that Success has been taken into custody for further investigation.

Sources indicate that Success had demanded N5,000 from his father, which was refused. This reportedly led to a heated argument, during which Success allegedly grabbed a machete and attacked his father.

It is understood that Success was under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident. Sources described him as a drug addict who often exhibited erratic behaviour when under the influence.

Although the victim was immediately transported to the hospital for medical treatment, he succumbed to his injuries. Also, the Ogun State Police arrested two suspects, Opeyemi Ibrahim and Dimeji Bakare, for using fraudulent bank transfers to purchase goods within the state.

The Command’s spokesperson, CSP Omotola Odutola, revealed in a statement that the suspects were apprehended on January 13, 2025, after fraudulently purchasing clothing worth N220,000 using fake bank transfers.

Further investigation revealed that one of the suspects had previously committed a similar offence in 2023, purchasing generators valued at N140,000 through fraudulent means.

The suspects were arrested with the recovered evidence and are currently under investigation. Odutola stated that they will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.
