A guardian, Mabel Chioma Eke, yesterday lamented that she is unable to find 12-year-old foster child Monica Chidera, who left home after being scolded on Saturday, August 10, 2024.

The teenage girl left the home at 8 Iwuagwu Avenue, Kabowe Bus Stop Meiran, Lagos, on that fateful day at about 6:00 p.m., and all efforts to locate her have yielded no results.

Speaking with The Guardian, Eke said Chidera is dark-complexioned and has a diastema.

On how the girl was adopted, Eke said the girl’s mother fell sick and gave up the ghost in Ghana, and she decided to adopt her.

“She lost her mother, who was my church member in Ghana, and I adopted her. She came with me to Nigeria for the holiday.’’

When asked about the girl’s father, she said: “I don’t know anything about her father. Her two brothers left my place, but I decided to bring the girl in to care for her.”

When asked why the child decided to leave home, she said, “I was trying to correct her for being rough. At one time, she almost set the house on fire. She has not been going to school, and I was afraid to register her in school in Ghana because of her playful nature. Before this happened, I planned to register her for lessons here (in Nigeria).

“I reported her disappearance at the Meiran Police Station, but we have not found her. I am calling on everyone to help us get her back. Call me on 07066085184 or contact the nearest police station.”
