In a heartwarming display of kindness and generosity, the Africa International Exchange of Arts Foundation (AIEA Foundation), a non-profit international organisation duly registered in Nigeria, and dedicated to promoting arts and fostering cultural exchange and artistic collaboration across the African continent, on Thursday, January 2, visited the Abule Egba Home of Little Saints Orphanage, bringing joy and smiles to the faces of the resident children.

The foundation team, made up of the MD/CEO, Thomas Chow; Trustee Member, Cheng Xiang, and Patrick Chilaka, Head PR, arrived at the orphanage home bearing gifts of literature (picture books), clothes, and candies. The children’s eyes lit up as they received the donations, eagerly devouring the sweets and excitedly exploring the new books and clothing.

With its roots in China, AIEA has programmes in Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, China, US and is about to also have footing in Hong Kong. Through its numerous initiatives, the organisation aims to amplify diverse African voices, preserve rich cultural heritage, and inspire creativity.

Supported by Hangzhou Yungu Kindergarten China, the visit is part of the foundation’s ongoing efforts to support vulnerable communities and promote education, arts, and culture. The team spent the day interacting with the children, engaging them in creative activities, and sharing stories of inspiration and hope.

“We believe that every child deserves access to quality education, arts, and culture. Our visit to Little Saints Orphanage is a small step towards making a positive impact in the lives of these incredible children,” said Chow.

“This donation is part of our larger initiative to establish kids’ libraries across Africa, aiming to distribute over 10,000 books and reading materials to Kenya, Uganda, and Nigeria in 2025.

“We believe that access to books and reading materials is crucial for the development of young minds. By providing these resources to the orphanage, we hope to inspire a love of reading, expand children’s horizons, and contribute to their overall education,” he added.

Responding to the gesture the management and staff of the orphanage home expressed their gratitude to the foundation for their kindness and generosity. “We are thankful for the support and love shown to our children. The donations will go a long way in providing for their needs and bringing joy to their lives.”

AIEA organises exhibitions, seminars, and other events to facilitate the exchange of African art and provides scholarships and other support to African artistes.
