Police arraign four over alleged visa fraud

Operatives of the Bauchi Police Command have arrested one Adamu Suleiman for sharing a video containing misleading information against the Nigeria Police Force.

The command, through a press release issued by its Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ahmed Wakil, on Tuesday, announced that Suleiman was arrested for his involvement in the spread of a misleading video clip across social media platforms.

The statement explained that in the video clip, one person was heard claiming that police officers were the ones perpetrating armed robbery.

The statement read in part, “To address recent developments concerning a resurfacing of an old video clip showing a police vehicle parked by the roadside where an armed robbery incident took place.

“The incident occurred on February 18, 2020, along Kano-Maiduguri Road near Bam village in Dambam LGA. In the video clip, someone is heard claiming that the police officers who parked the car were the ones perpetrating armed robbery.”

The PPRO clarified that the video was outdated and did not accurately represent any current or recent actions by the officers of the command.

He maintained that officers were responding to a distress call about an ongoing armed robbery.

He added, “The command takes matters of public misinformation very seriously, particularly when they have the potential to incite fear, confusion, or unrest among the members of the public.”

He urged citizens to be cautious about the information they share and to refrain from actions that may disrupt public order or threaten the safety of others.
