Gunmen kidnap NDLEA officer, orderly in Delta
A senior officer of the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has reportedly been kidnapped.
The Guardian gathered that the official was abducted a short distance from the agency’s head office located off the Isah-Ogwashi-Uku Road in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The Guardian also learned that the incident occurred around 8:00 pm as the officer was heading home after work.
Sources privy to the incident disclosed that the top NDLEA officer was caught off guard by the hoodlums, who had laid an ambush for him.
It was alleged that the criminals, heavily armed, intercepted the officer and his orderly, abducting them both.
Although the circumstances leading to the kidnapping could not be independently verified, rumors suggest that the abductors may have been aware of their victim’s departure time and waited to ambush him.
It is worth noting that five individuals have been abducted in Ogwashi-Uku within the last 10 days, leaving residents of the area in a state of fear and panic.
The most recent victims were taken along the Edo-Otulu Road axis in Agidiase quarters. During that incident, two people were abducted, while two youths were shot dead by the assailants.
A security source hinted that the perpetrators might have an insider providing them with useful information. The criminals have reportedly been changing their locations and timings to evade capture.
When contacted, the spokesperson of the NDLEA State Command, Mr. John Kennedy, declined to comment on the matter.
