Hackers take over Hisbah Facebook handle, post nude pictures
Suspected hackers have taken over the official Facebook page of Kano State Hisbah Board. The hackers have seized the opportunity to nude pictures and other content.
The Guardian learnt the development came to the knowledge of Hisbah a few days ago when the page was inundated with illicit images negating what the agency stands for.
Hisbah Commander General Sheikh Aminu Daurawa told journalists that necessary measures are being put in place to address the challenge.
Daurawa who regretted the development however urged people to disregard the prevailing contents circulating, noting that such images do not represent the core norms of the board.
“Kano State Hisbah Board is aware that its Facebook page has been hacked and inappropriate things are being shared. On behalf of the board, I call on people to help solve this problem,” he said.
He assured the public that the board’s ICT department is actively working to restore the page and is engaged in discussions with Meta to resolve the issue.
Daurawa urged the community to report any hacked page to Meta in English to help prevent further dissemination of inappropriate content.
Meanwhile the head of ICT at the board, Sani Zaila, noted that the account has experienced a previous cyber threat which was subsequently addressed by Meta. He said the owner of the social media has pledged to resolve the issue within 48 hours.
He expressed appreciation for the support and concern shown by the public, emphasizing ongoing efforts to recover the page and regain control.
