Lawmaker empowers constituents with fertilisers, sewing machines, others
As part of efforts to cushion the effects of the economic reforms facing Nigerians, especially the residents of Ijebu Ode/Odogbolu/Ijebu North-East Local Government Areas of Ogun State, a member representing the Ijebu Central Federal Constituency, Femi Ogunbanwo, popularly called “Omo-Iwa,” has empowered over 1,500 women and youths by procuring equipment for their businesses.
Items distributed include grinding machines, sewing machines, water pumping machines, hair dryers, chemical sprayer kits, hair clippers, and fertilisers.
The lawmaker, who handed over the items to beneficiaries at the Awujale Palace Pavilion in Ijebu Ode, urged constituents to exercise patience, adding that the government is cognizant of the prevailing economic challenges.
The event, which was well attended by political leaders and stakeholders, saw Hon. Ogunbanwo, flanked by his wife, reaffirm his commitment to the betterment of the people of the constituency. He noted that the event marked a testament to his dedication to uplifting the constituents.
“This is part of our empowerment programme aimed at alleviating the suffering of the masses in Ijebu Central Federal Constituency. I want to thank you for giving us the mandate to represent you and to assure you that we are not going to let you down in the area of quality representation and empowerment,” he said.
The Deputy State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief James Dina, expressed deep appreciation on behalf of the party for the lawmaker’s consistent focus on bettering the lives of his constituents. He urged beneficiaries to make optimal use of the items.
A beneficiary, Adedeji Adekoya, lauded the lawmaker for the initiative. “This gesture is a huge relief to our people, especially in these challenging times,” he said.
