McPherson University appoints Aderonke Olukemi Adeofun as its second substantive Bursar, bringing vast experience from both private and public sectors.
Aderonke Olukemi Adeofun has been appointed as the second substantive Bursar of McPherson University.

McPherson University has officially appointed Aderonke Olukemi Adeofun as its second substantive Bursar. The announcement was made through a press release signed by the university’s Acting Head of Information and Public Relations, Ehi Emhonyon. According to the release, Mrs Adeofun’s appointment was ratified by the institution’s Board of Trustees following a recommendation from the Selection Panel of the Governing Council. The letter, dated August 26, 2024, was signed by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Rev. Dr Babatunde Idowu.

The letter read in part: “I have the pleasure to inform you that the Board of Trustees of McPherson University, at its meeting on August 22nd, 2024, approved the recommendation of the Selection Panel of the Governing Council that you be appointed as the University Bursar.”

Mrs Adeofun brings a wealth of academic and professional expertise to the role. She holds dual Bachelor’s Degrees, one in Zoology from the University of Ibadan (1987) and another in Accounting from Crescent University, Abeokuta (2013). She also holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), obtained in 2011.

A seasoned Chartered Accountant, Mrs Adeofun qualified in 2000 and was admitted as a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) in 2012. Additionally, she is a Chartered Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM). Before her appointment as Bursar, she was the Deputy Bursar at FUNAAB, a position she held from 2017.

Her career spans both the private and public sectors, including roles at the accounting firm Muyiwa Bunmi Ogunlela & Co., Askar Paints, and various administrative positions at FUNAAB, where she first joined as a Principal Accountant in 1999. She succeeds Mr Ademola Osanyinro, who served as Acting Bursar following the completion of the two-term tenure of the university’s first substantive Bursar, Mr Yemi Onilado.

Mrs Adeofun assumed office on October 2nd, 2024. Apart from her professional career, she is actively involved in community service through the Foursquare Women International (FWI). She is married with two children and enjoys reading, travelling, and cooking.
