NEMA distributes relief materials to flood victims in Kaduna
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has distributed relief materials to people affected by the flood disaster across 11 communities in the Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
NEMA in a statement, said the materials distributed by the NEMA North West zone were part of the Federal Government Special Intervention for 2024.
The Zonal Coordinator, Abbani Garki, led other staff of the agency and officials of the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency during the exercise.
Present during the event were the House of Representatives members representing Kaura Federal Constituency, Donatus K. Matthew, traditional and community leaders, and other government officials.
NEMA said the flood-affected persons from the communities of Mifi, Fadan Attakar, Zankan, Manchok, Kpak, Daji Fada, Bondong, Tachira Kaura, Tachira Kadarko and Malagun Tun districts benefited from the FG relief support.
The relief items include food and nonfood items, clothing, and building materials.
Some of the items distributed were bags of rice, maize, cartons of vegetable oil, seasoning, spaghetti, tomato paste, beverages, towels, and clothes for children, women, and men. The agency also distributed bags of cement, bundles of roofing sheets, and nails.
Garki commended NEMA’s timely response to assist the victims.
He also advised and urged the beneficiaries not to sell what was given to them, but instead share with those who were more in need
On his part, the zonal coordinator delivered regards from Director General NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, and commiserated with the affected persons, saying the relief succour is just an assistance to ease their plight as it cannot replace their losses.
