At least one person died on Saturday in a lone vehicle accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, the Guardian reports.

The accident, it was gathered, occurred near Saapade at about 2:58 pm, resulting in one fatality and 10 serious injuries.

The crash involved a white Mazda bus, registration number GGE 858 XY, which was travelling at high speed when a tire burst caused the driver to lose control, leading the vehicle to overturn.

Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) spokesperson, Florence Okpe, reported that the injured were taken to Patong Hospital, Ogere, while the deceased’s body was moved to FOS Morgue, Ipara Remo.

Okpe’s statement detailed, “Seventeen people were involved in the accident: eight male adults, seven female adults, one female child, and one male child. Unfortunately, one female adult died, and ten others were seriously injured.”

FRSC Ogun State Sector Commander Akinwumi Fasakin urged motorists to regularly check tire conditions, including expiration dates and tread, to prevent such incidents.
