Police arrest five for selling months-old baby
Detectives of Oko-Oba Division of Lagos State Police Command have arrested five persons involved in child trafficking following a report from the mother of a two-month-old missing boy.
The mother had reported that one Gloria Sunday absconded with her son to an unknown destination on July 11. Detectives, after that, swung into action, leading to the arrest of the woman who, during interrogation, confessed to selling the baby for N500,000 to one Pastor Peter Udoh.
Spokesperson for the Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said Udoh, who was subsequently arrested in Ikene, Ogun State, admitted reselling the child for N1,450,000 to one Loretta Nelson, who was apprehended in Festac Town, Lagos. Hundeyin said Nelson confessed to selling the baby for N2,350,000.
Further investigations led to the arrest of the final buyers, Mr and Mrs James Uwam, during the naming ceremony of the stolen child. He said all the suspects would be arraigned in court after investigations.
