The Niger State Road Maintenance Agency (NIGROMA) has reiterated its determination to fix some major roads begging for attention so as to ease the movement of goods and services.

Managing Director of the agency, Farouk Umar Audi, gave the assurance while speaking to The Guardian shortly after flagging off the rehabilitation of Bomas roundabout to Abdulkadir Kure Ultra-modern Market Road on Saturday.

Audi said the agency has selected five township roads that are in critical condition totaling 50 kilometres for rehabilitation in every quarter of the year.

He hinted that in recent times, the repair of these critical roads was delayed because the agency had to re-strategise, especially on the roads that were in critical and bad conditions as well as those that are fairly good for rehabilitation.

“The Abdulkadir Kure Ultra-Modern market to Bomas supermarket Round About Road has been in bad shape for a while without getting necessary attention.

His words: “With the coming of Mohammed Umaru Bago administration which has prioritised infrastructural development, the governor has approved that we start with the market road.

According to Audi, this is to allow free flow of traffic and motorists plying the road will be happy. “This also signifies the commitment of the agency that we mean business to fix bad portions of roads within the state, capital,” he said.

The NIGROMA boss also disclosed that other roads to be rehabilitated are the Top Medical to M. I Wushishi road among others.

He said that road infrastructure development and maintenance are part of the developmental programmes of Umar Bago administration to allow free flow of traffic.

While lauding the governor for coming to the aid of traders and customers, the Chairman of Harmonised Minna Traders, Gambo Aliyu, praised Governor Bago for coming to the aid of the traders by fixing the market road, saying it will go a long way to boost commercial activities in the market, commending the governor for his feeling to the suffering of the traders.

He said the Abdulkadir Ultra-Modern Kure Market Road has been in bad state for a long period of time without getting necessary attention from the immediate past administration.

Additionally, Alhaji Aliyu Maikaza, Youth Leader in the market, expressed joy with the Bago-led administration for approving the repair of the market road to address the plight of motorists.
